30A Studio Maternity Session

Maternity portraits often conjure up some cringe-y ideas. We have all seen maternity sessions done so poorly, so many times in the past that we often dismiss them as potentially cheesy or dated. But, we cannot be more excited than when a soon to be mom reaches out to us, ready to create something beautiful to remember this incredible time in her life. Maternity portraits *done right* are a true gift. Maternity portraits are a way to not only capture a moment in this journey, but also a way to treat yourself and to be pampered; a gift of feeling truly beautiful during a time that might not seem very glamorous. 

Laura and her husband did their engagement session with us a few years ago and we were so thrilled to style and capture these images for her, while carrying her son. Initially, Laura was scheduled for her session early in her third trimester. But, a certain pandemic lockdown caused us to put this session on hold until she was 37 weeks along! Her sweet little one was born just about four days after this session. 

At the end of the session, Nick joined us on the beach for a few images to include dad!  This represents one way to include dad in the session, but you can choose invite him to the studio, it just requires some planning and styling. 😉

We are looking forward to our next 30A Studio Maternity Session, coming very soon. One bit of advice, if you’re looking to book a session like this one, contact us early in your pregnancy so we can collaborate on styling, order wardrobe (this can take many weeks!), book professional hair and makeup, and all in time to do the session by approximately week 34.
